Bad news: Manitoba pharmacists are resisting Trump’s cheap drug plan

“There are shortages across Canada right now and around the world. I’ve been a pharmacist for 10 years in an independent, community pharmacy and have never seen our back order list so big. So this is pretty worrisome.”

The US government’s plan to let patients from America access significantly cheaper medicines from their northern neighbors is not going down well with Canadian pharmacists especially in Manitoba.

Presently, the FDA has permitted access to import medication for personal consumption from outside the country but at one condition i.e. the supply should not exceed three months.

Donald J Trump’s administration had made a proposal recently which was communicated by Alex Azar, Health and Human Services Secretary. He made an announcement that would permit states, pharmacists, and wholesalers to obtain permission from the FDA to buy specific medications that are also accessible in America.
